Choose whether you spend 1 or 2 days with us learning how to create the perfect equine portrait session for you and your client.
You’ll join other passionate, vibrant equine photographers, all working to build their photography and live their dream. Here at the Training Barn, we believe in building one another up and creating a safe and confidence building experience.
Day One participants will enjoy two photoshoots, one in the morning and one after lunch, followed by a group Q&A session. Day Two participants will take part in a morning photoshoot, and then in the afternoon, we’ll do an image assessment and editing session – perfect for fine-tuning your process and making sure you’re getting the most out of your shots. After that, we’ll dive into another Q&A.

What do I get with my booking?
- Depending on whether you book one or both days, you’ll take part in 1-3 photoshoots, each utilising a variety of locations and outfits to give you a dazzling array of new portfolio images
- You’ll be shooting alongside Emily and Hannah, so you’ll benefit from their tips, tricks, and extensive photography knowledge, giving you loads more tools to use in your own shoots
- You’ll be provided with a light lunch each day at the studio, giving you the chance to mingle with your fellow delegates
- We’ll provide tonnes of advice on posing clients, which you’ll be able to learn on the job
- We’ll cover natural light problem-solving, shooting in shade, sunshine, under cloud cover, and so on – and we’ll help you understand how to adjust and adapt to produce consistent images, no matter what the light is doing
- You’ll join us as we go location scouting, refining your eye for creative backgrounds and unexpected hidden gems
- You’ll take home your own Shoot Book, packed with tips, tricks and poses
- You’ll also get access to our Model Call 101 guide, which helps you to find portfolio subjects and get your images into the big, wide world – without losing you any potential income in this area

What is your biggest achievement since finishing this course?
Getting out there and making contact with a wide range of different businesses and trying to gain business and get to know people. I have also done a few photo shoots for adults and children so I have started to place a few orders which has been fantastic.
Have you booked any clients since the course?
Yes, I have put myself out there with trying to market myself as much as I can and this so far has been successful in producing some great shots and clients placing orders. I realise that it helps to work with other businesses in what each can gain, this so far seems to have worked and produced a foot in the door so to speak. Even though it has brought me this I still know I have a long way to go in order to produce those solid foundations and for that circle to grow before I can rely on it more financially.

What will I learn from this course?
After 3 photo shoots with us you will be able to pose and direct your client with confidence. We walk you through how we set up and create a success equine portrait photo shoot.
Working with natural light can be tricky, so we go through how we use light, whatever the weather and what settings we use on our cameras.
On our editing day we show you how we utalise Lightroom for processing and organising our images. We have a proven backup and organisation workflow which we will also walk you through.
What kit will I need for this course?
DO I NEED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
The short answer is no.
If you would like to dip your toe into equine photography then this is the course for you. Even if you would like to leave your camera on automatic until your confidence grows, thats fine by us. This course is to build your experience and knowledge of equine portrait photography. No pressure!
